Mickie E VanderWaal, 77, of Sumner, passed away on February 2, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, WA.
She was born on July 14, 1943 to Frank and Mary (Coughlin) Rice in Auburn, WA. She attended school in Auburn, belonged to the Green River Saddle Club, and graduated from Auburn High School. On the farm Mickie helped raise replacement dairy heifers for the local dairys, a few beef cows and even at one point milked their own cow and sold milk to some local families.
Mickie is survived by her 3 children, sons, Rick VanderWaal (Bonnie) of Graham, WA, and Tim VanderWaal (Kathy Oline) of Tumwater, WA and daughter, Patricia Soerens (Jeff) of Plano, TX; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brother Frank Rice (Charlene) of Auburn, WA; sister Janet Phillips of Puyallup, WA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who she dearly loved.
