Milton Till Sr. Obituary

Milton Davis Till Sr.

Milton Davis Till Sr. knew that the life you have led did not need to be the only life you had.  Like the garden he loved to watch grow, he knew that life was fluid and could suddenly bloom with endless possibilities and wonder.  Born in the small town of Sargent, Nebraska on April 15, 1928 to Rex and Vivian Till, Milton was blessed with too much adventure and curiosity to stay in Nebraska for long.  His wanderlust led him to join the United States Navy where he served during World War II as a baker on the USS Theodore E. Chandler DD-717.  He was a Washingtonian for 84 of his 92 years and worked as a plant manager for the state.  Milton spent his time serving with the VFW, Masonic Lodge, Eagles, Retired Public Employees Council, and St. John’s Medical Outreach (formerly known as Mom & Me).  Much of his efforts revolved around the veteran’s community and the honor he could afford his fellow heroes.  In 1997 he founded the Tahoma Honor Guard to honor and thank others for their service.  He was a staple of the honor guard since its inception.  As a recipient of the 2017 Honor Flight, Milton was able to fly with other veterans to Washington DC to visit our country’s war memorials.  In 2019 he raised money for restoration and a new flagpole at the Washington Soldiers Home Cemetery.  He continued to serve his country with every breath.  More than anything Milton enjoyed spending time with his family.  Together they would travel, finding new moments of beauty and splendor to share.  Each of Milton’s days were filled with kindness, the giving of endless help, and the sharing of love.  If the goal is to die with memories and not dreams, Milton certainly hit his mark.  On July 21, 2020 Milton once again braved the unknown, this time to seek the embrace of those who went before him; his wife Imogene Janice Till; children Michael, Cathy Lee, and Mark Till; and brothers Delmar Till and David Till Sr.  Milton will continue to be loved by his wonderful wife Betty Anderson-Till; children Milton Till Jr. (Marcia), Marvin Till (Colleen), Janice Burdsall (Charlie), and Imogene Kay Williams (George); brother Ronald Till (Colleen); twenty-two amazing grandchildren; forty-one exceptional great grandchildren; and 3 beloved great-great grandchildren.
