Pauline Shirley Wilkening passed away peacefully and went home to see her Savior, her family, and friends. She was born on January 22, 1927 in Yakima, Washington to parents Neva and Paul Harris. She was the eldest child. Pauline became a Christian at 16 years of age and was active at church.
On March 28, 1948, Pauline married John Wilkening who was her husband of 69 years. They met on a blind date in Yakima. They made their home in Seattle, Washington. Together they had six children: Steve, Jim, Jan, Tom, Bob, and Gary. Being a mother was Pauline’s greatest passion. She was a Christian woman who loved serving her family. Pauline also volunteered at the VA helping veterans. She taught Sunday School and Children’s Bible Class with the Presbyterian Church for many years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her home was always open to all the children in her large family.
Family get-togethers were held often with all the birthdays and holidays, celebrating in the spacious home she and John had built. John and Pauline also entertained for years on their boat and campouts at Blake Island.
Pauline also enjoyed all the opportunities to travel with her husband. She especially enjoyed her visit back East to Washington D.C. They also made regular trips to California to see their grandchildren there.
Pauline had a deep faith and trust in God. She raised her children to understand and know Him personally also. Her life revolved around serving Him and her family.
