Richard Baxter Obituary

Richard Dale Baxter, 78 , of Covington, WA passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from his battle with Alzheimer's. He was born on March 13, 1943 in Canton, PA to Dale and Emma (McNeal) Baxter. Richard graduated in 1961 from Canton High School. After graduation, Richard entered the Army, completing Basic Training at Fort Dix, NJ. He was then assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC as a Medical Specialist. When he was Honorably Discharged from the Army, Richard studied seismographs/mapping in Billings, MT and was also a member of a sky-diving group in Big Horn County, MT. Richard moved to Washington State and married Phyllis J. Thompson on May 22, 1976, in Kent, WA. Richard retired from Sweetland Company in Seattle, WA as a Hydraulic Inside Salesman. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, driving his 1994 Corvette, collecting corvette memorabilia, and being a member at LeMay's Car Museum in Tacoma, WA. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Emma Baxter, and his brothers, Robert Baxter, Charles Baxter, and Dave Baxter. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Baxter; sisters, Donna Stamp (Andy) and Faye Jenkins; brother, James Baxter (Brenda); stepdaughters, Pat Conley (Larry) and Pam Skidmore (Robin); daughter, Stephanie Wall (Dale); grandchildren, Trevor Wall, Tyler Doerflinger, Morgan Dibble, and Ryan Riedel; many nieces and nephews; and his buddy, Lucy the cat.
