Rick Perko passed from this earthly life on Monday, August 7, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with Acute Lymphoma Leukemia. He was born March 31, 1951, in Seattle to John and Helen Perko. He attended St. Francis Seminary and graduated from Colorado University, Boulder. Curious and inventive all his life, he held over twelve patents in the microwave and electronics industry during his career in research and development. He retired from Tyco Electronics and moved to Enumclaw with his wife, Kristi, to be near the mountains and family he loved and to begin his new career as devoted Grandpa. Rick was an avid skier his whole life, but was also active in windsurfing, mountain biking, and BETC Tennis. He will be fondly remembered for his coffee roasting skills, his photography, his woodworking creations, and his incredible ability to invent a fix for just about everything. He is survived by his wife, Kristi, their two children, Craig Perko and Shawna Smith (Dave), four grandchildren, Bella, Lia, Cici, and Emma Smith, and his brothers Rocky Perko, Ron Perko, and Ben Dario.
A celebration of life will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, Auburn on Friday, August 25th at 1:00pm.
Donations in Rick’s honor can be sent to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, WA.
