Ruth Surguine Obituary

Ruth was born April 24, 1927 in Ava, Missouri, the youngest of William Vernon and Viola Esther Surguine’s four children.

The family moved to Montana in 1928 enduring the challenges of farming through the dust bowl and the depression years.

In 1943 Ruth moved to the Seattle area with her mother and her sister, Valda.

She graduated from Highline High School in Burien in 1945 and went to work for Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Company.  She spent her entire working career with Pacific Northwest Bell and its subsidiaries.

Ruth retired in 1986 and moved to Enumclaw to live with her sister and brother-in-law. She continued to remain in Enumclaw living with her sister following the deaths of her mother and brother-in-law.

Ruth was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Enumclaw and served along with her sister in the Altar Guild until 2014 when she and her sister moved to The Weatherly Inn in Kent.

Throughout her life, Ruth loved to travel. She took several cruises with her sister including Alaska and the Panama Canal. They also traveled to Hawaii and Norway.  They made many trips to Montana, California, Iowa, Georgia, and Missouri to visit family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her father, William Vernon Surguine (1888 – 1938), her mother, Viola Esther Surguine (1896 – 1993), her brother, Lourin Jesse Surguine (1917 – 1987), her brother, Uel Surguine (1922 – 1940), her sister, Valda Surguine Anderson (1924 – 2016), and her nieces, Leah Vernette Anderson Rae (1948 – 2018), Janice Lee Anderson Pichetto (1950 – 2019) and nephew, Andrew Vernon Surguine (1955 - 2016).

While never married, Ruth is survived by nephew, Gregory Surguine, niece, Linda Anderson Hottle; great nieces and nephews, Charles Wright, Christina Warnock, Andrea Hall, Anthony Pichetto, Nicholas Pichetto, Monica Surguine, Allison McElwee, Matthew Hottle, Jennifer Kerr, and Melissa Dodge; and great-great nieces and nephews, Kenny Warnock, Guinevere Warnock, Abe Hall, Urban Pichetto, Eleanor Pichetto, Aidan Pichetto, Olivia Pichetto, Clare McElwee, Liam McElwee, Jackson Kerr, Jolissa Kerr, Jameson Kerr, Charlotte Dodge, and Bradley Dodge.
