Sharon Fugate Obituary

Our family has been blessed to have an Angel among us for 54 years. On May 2, 2020 Sharon Jane “Shorty” Fugate left us for an eternity of dancing with Jesus. Sharon is not dancing alone, but with her parents Jim and Dolly Fugate, sister Kathy Rogers, and brother Bill Fugate.

Sharon was born in Enumclaw, Washington. Sharon and her twin sister were the final 2 of a large, loving family of 8. Her surviving siblings are Sheela Kranc (Tom), Keith Fugate (Sandy), Gregg Fugate (Teri), Sandy Birkeland, Karen Fugate and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharon attended Grandview Elementary school and graduated from Tyee High School in 1985. She was a proud worker of McDonald's and Fugate Ford- until Sharon decided to let her big brothers, Keith and Gregg, know loud and clear it was time to retire! Sharon was very involved in the Special Olympics where she received many medals in softball, swimming, and bowling. If square dancing and karaoke would have been sports she would have taken the gold! Sharon enjoyed traveling to see “Mom Dolly” and Dad in Palm Springs, getaways weekends with her sisters and mom to Chelan. No matter where Sharon went, everyone knew her name and she never forgot a face.

The last 20 years Sharon has resided at her home, Destiny House, right around the corner from her mom and sisters. Sharon loved her two best friends and roommates, Deb and Liz. They would spend time cooking, camping, watching movies, and going out for dinners. Sometimes even arguing until Sharon would say her famous “that’s enough now”. Sharon had an amazing amount of support and love from her staff. Words could never express the love Sharon had for all these ladies.

Sharon Jane was the sunshine of the Fugate family. She taught us all the importance of seeing the joy in so many things. The importance of really listening and understanding that all people have special gifts to share. Hearing her sing and watching her dance will be missed by us all.  “See you tomorrow” Sharon Jane!

She will always be our sunshine.
