Shelly Rae (West) Copenhaver, 59, died December 25, 2022, following a short but intense struggle with a rare form of cancer. Shelly grew up in Enumclaw, graduating from EHS in 1981. She worked several jobs before beginning her life-long career in 1990 as a warehouse manager at United Motor Freight in Seattle and Tacoma. In 2008 she met, then married, Lonny Copenhaver, a “cowboy” from Graham, WA. Lonny proved to be the best encounter in her life, providing for all the love she could ever desire, fulfilling her needs, wants and wishes during the years they had together. They enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting, and horseback riding, not only on their own horses but on trips to Eden Valley in the Okanogan country, the Flying U Ranch at Green Lake Canada, and at Eaton Ranch in Wyoming. Shelly loved her dogs Jinks, Kira, Bomber, and Q. She enjoyed obedience training them to their blue-ribbon wins, plus Dock diving with two of them. Shelly is survived by Lonny; her father, Gary and Nancy West of Enumclaw; her mother, Judith West of Shoreline; sister, Jill Pierce of Enumclaw; brother Dennis and Tina West of Independence, KY; six nieces and nephews; “adopted daughter” Tanya Copenhaver; granddaughter Cassidy Copenhaver; and numerous extended family members. Shelly leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family, to say her quiet confidence, sense of humor, always-ready laugh and love of family will be missed is an immense understatement.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Weeks’ Enumclaw Funeral Home with interment following at Enumclaw Evergreen Memorial Park.
