Shirley Nelson Obituary

Shirley May Nelson, 68, of Bonney Lake, passed away on September 17, 2021 in Puyallup, WA.

Shirley was born on June 20, 1953 to John and Shirley (Dilts) Hearn in Marion, Indiana. She graduated from Downey High School near Los Angeles, California.  Shirley’s greatest goal in life was to have a family and be the best mother possible.  Hands down, she was successful in this endeavor. Shirley spent several years travelling the world as a Navy Spouse and acted as a single mother of her three boys.  Additionally, she worked to provide for her family as a seamstress and will be remembered as the ultimate homemaker, an excellent cook, and her crafting skills were on par with Martha Stewart.  There was no project too big; for family, Shirley would give anything.  She made several family wedding dresses and massive wedding cakes. Shirley loved the ocean and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends regardless of the location.  We are all blessed to have loved and been loved by Shirley.  We miss you.

Shirley is survived by three sons, Leslie Wade Nelson, Jr., and Daniel Lee Nelson, of Bonney Lake, WA and David Scott Nelson of Tucson, AZ; Sister, Sherry Pickeral, of Great Mills, MD; Brother John Hearn, of Bullhead City, AZ; and 5 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Father, John Wheat Hearn, Mother, Shirley Jean Hearn, and Brother, Rick Eugene Hearn.

Being a survivor of breast cancer, her family encourages donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation at www.komen.org. Online condolences can be given at www.weeksfuneralhomes.com.  A gathering to celebrate her life will be planned for Spring 2022.
