Welcome to the memorial page for

Ronald "Ron" Vesey

March 14, 1947 ~ October 16, 2017 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Ron was the proud firstborn of Clyde and Betty Vesey, as one of the early baby-boomers, less than a year after Clyde’s discharge from the Navy in World War II. Being the “pathfinder” of the next generation of Vesey’s, Ron tested the boundaries of life on the exuberant side. Growing up in the Wickersham neighborhood of Buckley, there was no shortage of outdoor activities to keep him occupied, including hunting, fishing, and trapping. He had many close lifelong friends from the classes of 1965 to 1967 of White River High School, with Ron graduating in 1966. Ron received his draft notice the week after he graduated, and was inducted in the Army in October of 1966. He trained at Fort Ord, and Fort Bragg, and served in Viet Nam at Cam Ranh Bay as a clerk typist in the 116th Transportation Company in 1967 and 1968. Upon returning to Buckley, Ron went to work in the Woods working most of his career as a yarder operator for Ron Bowen Logging, and Jim Wytko Logging. He hung up his “cork boots” in 1996.

Ron’s retirement years were filled with hunting, fishing, and clam digging excursions with his sidekicks Doug and Poncho. His trip to Puerto Vallarta with Doug was a highlight of his retirement travel. He was fortunate to have the companionship and assistance of Dwight, with whom he went on many deer, elk, and pheasant hunting trips to Montana.

Ron was blessed with three children, Ronnie, Devon, and Chad. Although he did not keep close contact with them through the years, he was proud of to be their father. Ron is survived by: his Children Ronnie Vesey (Jackie) Tuscola, Texas; Devon Vesey-Hite (Dana) Selah, WA; and Chad Vesey, Selah, WA; Siblings Greg Vesey (Barb), Allan Vesey (Lynnette), Dennis Vesey (Ruth), JoAnne Summers (Dick), and Kevin Vesey (Denise); ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ron, or “Veze”, as he was known by many friends in Buckley, was well liked by everyone, even his ex-wives, Mellodee and Gaye. That deep throated laugh will be remembered along with the kind heart he had for his friends.

There will be a graveside service for Ron at the Buckley cemetery on Sunday, November 12th at 1:30pm followed by a Memorial for him at the Buckley Eagles. Donations in Ron’s memory can be made to the Buckley Firefighters Association, 611 Division St., Buckley, WA 98321
